Our Curriculum

Our Training Programme

Trainee teachers become immersed in school life from day 1 in September through to early July. They will have two placements, further enhanced by a wide range of educational settings and experiences to become teachers of excellence. The programme is delivered through:

    • Pre-course training: A series of newsletters to guide your preparation and ensure your teacher training journey has the best start possible.
    • Centre based training- these are our professional studies training days held at the Training Centre to cover the skills and knowledge a teacher requires. Additionally, this learning is enhanced by the Research Informed Teacher programme delivered at the Training Centre by colleagues from Liverpool Hope University to support your work on 2 written assignments leading to 60 masters credits.
    • Subject based training- a series of subject specific pedagogy workshops delivered by an expert practitioner from our partnership.
    • School based training- up to 150 days provided in 2 school settings consisting of observation, planning, teaching and reflective discussion to support your development as a teacher.

Our curriculum enables teachers entering the profession to experience a high quality foundation for their teaching careers supported by the latest educational research, effective coaching and mentoring with continued guidance in their early careers. Those identified with leadership skills have been offered fast track opportunities to further develop these skills and several have already taken up leadership positions.
AMP SCITT will recruit and train outstanding primary and secondary teachers, many of whom become ECT’s within our partnership.
