There are three types of funding available. Depending on circumstances, you could receive all three:
1. Tax-free bursary or Scholarships (See below for further details)
2. Tuition Fee Loan and Maintenance Loan
3. Additional finance help if you are a parent, have an adult dependant or have a disability
Funding for teacher training is available for eligible graduates who are starting their training in the 2022/23 academic year on postgraduate routes including the non-salaried School Direct programme either through scholarship or training bursaries.
Funding amounts will vary depending on the subject you intend to teach and your degree classification or highest relevant academic qualification. If you do not have a degree in the subject you wish to teach, courses may be available to increase your subject knowledge prior to teacher training. The following bursaries are available for secondary teacher training in the 2022/23 academic year.
Chemistry - £24,000
Physics - £24,000
Computing - £24,000
Mathematics - £24,000
Design & Technology - £15,000
Geography - £15,000
Languages - £15,000
Biology - £10,000

Scholarships of up to £26,000 are available in selected subjects for trainees who are starting their training in the 2021/22 academic year. These prestigious awards are aimed at high-quality graduates with a 2:1 or first-class degree, who are passionate about their subject and have the potential to be inspirational teachers.
